RE: Older (vintage) TT with two tables

We had a '77 Aristocrat that had the dinette across the front that would seat 4. Between double & single gauchos in the rear, there was a fold-down/up table with 3 extension boards that would easily seat 6. That was a nifty arrangement that allowed you comfortably feed at least 10 people.

RE: Colorado fall color

Thanks for that info, 12th Man. I'll definitely check that out before I attempt to land at One Mile. Anyone have leads on other NF campgrounds in that area that have electric hookup?

RE: Campgrounds on the Niobrara near Valentine NE

The TL directory lists 3 in Valentine: Fishberry Campground, Valentine Motel & RV Park, & Wacky West Travel Park. You could check with some of the outfitters on the river as to whether they have RV sites available. Smith Falls State Park east of Valentine & directly on the Niobrara has tent camping, but I believe no provision for RVs.

Colorado fall color

I'm looking at being in Colorado the end of Sept. & first part of Oct., hoping to catch the fall colors. I'm thinking in terms of National Forest campgrounds with electric hookup such as One Mile near Almont & Redstone near Carbondale. First of all, would these be good choices for fall color? Secondly, would these campgrounds tend to be lightly used at that time of year, or would they be loaded with other folks looking for fall color and/or hunters? Hopefully someone familiar with those areas would have some insight. If anyone knows of other NF campgrounds with electic that would be suitable, I'd appreciate knowing that as well. Thank you in advance.

RE: Balancing TT Tires

Can't think of a good reason NOT to balance the tires.

RE: Second Tire failes

Another vote here for Maxxis. A year ago I went to load range E tires on my TT. So far so good.
I'm aware of the 65 MPH restriction on ST tires but have never heard an explanation as to why. Could someone enlighten me in this regard???

RE: Campsite for Omaha, NE

If you haven't already gone, I'd recommend Haworth Park in Bellevue.

RE: Wall construction - Do they have "studs"?

3 guns sounds like quite a bit of weight to be bouncing around on a rough road. The rack would have to be very well mounted to stay in place. Might want to put the guns elsewhere while traveling.

RE: Need help fixing hole in diamond plate on front of TT

That's the thing with the so-called "diamond plate" they put on the front of most trailers. I don't think its much thicker or offers much more protection than regular aluminum siding. Too bad they don't put on REAL diamond plate which would provide REAL protection.

RE: Tire Brand Recommendations?

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned Maxxis tires. There have been lots of positive responses on this brand on other threads.

RE: Rest Areas

I wouldn't overnight in a rest area just on account of safety issues. My son & his wife had a very scary incident pulling into a rest area late at night in rural Nebraska. They were in a car just wanting a hour or 2 of sleep. Too many "creepos" traveling the interstates & frequenting the rest areas.

You might want to pull the plug on the converter too & see if that makes a difference.

RE: So. Dakota to OH advise

If you travel I29, you'll go right past Omaha. Omaha boasts one of the nation's top zoos in the Henry Doorly Zoo, featuring displays & exhibits that are totally unique. Someone else mentioned the Strategic Air & Space Museum about midway between Omaha & Lincon, well worth a visit. Both the zoo & the museum would appeal to kids of that age. Adjacent to the museum is Nebraska's flagship state park, Mahoney. A great place to camp, Mahoney includes a swimming pool/water park, a theater offering live melodramas, & has a lodge which serves great meals.

RE: are these good ideas?

I had the lower 3 ft. or so of the front of my TT sprayed with Rhinoliner about 6 years ago. The result looks very professional, & if you didn't know better, you'd think it was installed at the factory. Its done a good job taking care of the rock chip problem. This was done at the suggestion of Jayco customer service.

RE: How do I keep clothes hangers on the rod?

Does your RV suspension have shock absorbers? If not, adding them may help the ride considerably & keep things from jumping around in the rear. I have shocks, & I can stack books, etc., on open shelves in the rear & things are almost always exactly where I left them after travel.

RE: trailer allignment

I don't think its that hard to find a place to do trailer wheel alignment. As several have mentioned, shops that specialize in semi truck equipment should be able to do the job. The last time I had mine aligned, I think the bill was somewhere around $90.

Hebron also has a city park campground that is nicely shaded & with a bathhouse at very minimal cost. Just giving you an alternative, & its only blocks from US 81.

RE: Help Would Really Help

If you do decide to travel 281, O'Neill, NE has a nice shaded camp area on the south edge of town - electric hookups, bathhouse, dump station. Pay is either very reasonable or by donation. That's typical of many small communities in NE.
